What is an Unchained?
Whilst it is perfectly possible and sometimes essential, to travel from A to B in the most direct manner possible, this is not the Unchained way.
Some regard adventure travel as requiring danger and months spent under a mosquito net, Unchained sees adventure in the details, however near, or far from home.
Unchained delights in the different.
Unchained is the place to recommend unique services to travellers. To share the location of providers of something special, however small or large, however cheap or expensive, however convenient or remote.
In a world where globalization creates branded services eliminating localized colour and flavour, Unchained celebrates the non-standard.
So, an unchained is a single venue, supplying a service, not a franchise, not part of a group or a corporate giant network.
If for example a farm supplies chickens to a fast food chicken chain, but also has a farm shop, the farm shop can be unchained. If on the other hand the farm’s produce is exclusively available only through supermarkets and chain restaurants, then it’s not.
Here’s where we need your opinion. What if the farm has a website offering chickens to the public directly and in bulk to fast food outlets? We are still arguing that one.
Unchained is not a site for criticism; it’s a site for recommendations only. Unchainedworld.com let’s you make recommendations and see the recommendations others have made.

Unchained rewards
Becoming Unchained has its own rewards. You’ll enjoy the variety that is stifled by branded conformity, also, we will reward you for becoming Unchained.
For every recommendation of an unchained service, or conversion of an ‘unchained but undiscovered’ service, you will gain a point. The recipient of the most points each year will receive an award. The greatest distance between any two unchaineds, submitted by a single member, will also receive an award. There will also be discretionary awards as and when they arise.
Unchained service providers will also be rewarded, ‘Most Recommendations Received’, for example.
