Burnt Finger BBQ
Location(s)
Set on the '20' road from Winthrop to Twisp, the Burnt Finger sits perched above the river. At the point where we sat, you could see the deer crossing the river in the moonlight.
That alone was worth the visit.

Baldwins Saloon
Location(s)
Over 12 months ago, I visited Baldwin's Saloon in Dalles Oregon.
That time we'd just eaten, so the comments related solely to their outstanding Spanish Coffee. On this visit, the Spanish Coffee was accompanied by a meal and I have no reason to regret having posted Baldwin's in the first place.
The menu has the variety that makes you spend time considering which might be best. I'd pick any of the fish dishes. There were three of us and we all had different fish dishes and were happy to share a forkful with each other. No complaints.
Finish off with the Spanish Coffee back at the bar...do not have it at your table...as watching it being made is an integral part of the enjoyment. Trust me.

Elizabeth and Alexander
Location(s)
Sometimes what's on your doorstep gets over looked. That's what's happened for two years with Elizabeth & Alexander's English Tea Room. I've passed this place without a second glance and it was only when I had visitors that had been there, that I ventured in.
It's the nearest to a genuine English Tea house that I've found in the USA. The charm of tea sets that don't all match up, the chairs that are slightly different at each table. There's something 'established' about the place that's warm and welcoming.
The food...I had the dessert sampler...right on the mark. Scones that crumble, small pastries that are full of lemon curd with that subtle blend of bitterness and sweetness.

Elaine's Tea Shoppe (Home of Wild Orchid Teas)
Location(s)
A contemporary tea room and retail tea shop serving light bites including made-from-scratch scones and serving over 130 teas. The atmosphere is Contemporary to French Country, relaxed and comfortable for both women and men.
Tea is served in a French Press and every cup is served fresh, whether hot or cold. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are advised for larger groups.
The retail shop has a great selection of premium teas from around the globe, including black, green, oolong, white, pu-ehr, matcha, and herbal tisanes. Complementing the tea is a wide variety of tea accessories from fine English bone china to Asian to contemporary tea preparation methods.

Klondike Kate's
Location(s)
I had to be in Newark for a couple nights so I called an old friend in Wilmington for dinner with the request, "NO CHAINS!". Kelle knew just the place.
Klondike Kate's was quite busy for a weeknight and people were actually waiting to get seated. The University of Delaware is closeby.
Even though they had a number of crab items on the menu, I had to go with the meatloaf. From the looks of the plates around me, I'd classify the menu as "roadhouse food". Not a bad thing; the meatloaf was excellent.

Sam's Barbeque
Location(s)
Over the years, I'd heard so much about Sam's BBQ, I headed over as soon as I got off the plane and picked up the rental car. Sam's is about fifteen minutes from Austin International.
It took me a while to decide and I finally ordered the sausage, baked beans, potato salad, and onion slice. Lunch lived up to everything I'd ever heard about the ambience and the food.
I found this on the UT website:

Kauai Family Restaurant/Kauai Desserts
Location(s)
This is the link to the Kauai Family Restaurant menu:
http://www.kauaifamilyrestaurant.com/menu.htm
Lunch and dinner prices range from $6.25 to $15.25, breakfast from $4.50 to $7.50.
But what I really want to talk about is the bakery next door, Kauai Desserts.
At one time, I worked in the Georgetown area and a co-worker brought in a Fresh Fruit Cake for someone's birthday. I wish I had a picture of it to show you.

Pine Valley House
Location(s)
I'd just had dental work done in Los Algodones and was on my way to Burbank.
As a longtime viewer of All My Children, I couldn't resist anything named Pine Valley.
I couldn't eat a lot but I did have the Cheese and Potato Soup. Well worth the stop and very soft on my sore gums.

How to Cook a Wolf
Location(s)
How To Cook A Wolf is a restaurant in Seattle run by Ethan Stowell and Patric Gabre-Kidan. They changed my life. I have found the bliss that is the properly cooked morel. The scallops left me yearning for more.
